First off we all want to say thank you so much to the 9 people that pledged to the Kickstarter project for Here Come The Intrepids! You dig the tunes, believe in what we’re trying to do, and did your best to help us out. But, seeing as we only reached $86 of our $300 goal, it was a complete and total flop. Two months of hard work for nothing… I did little more than sit at home watching DVDs and listening to records for 6 weeks after that. Even though exactly what I expected to happen, happened. It was a bitter pill to swallow. So, just like I said, Unsane Asylum will not be releasing this CD. I’m beyond flat broke. But, seeing as Ed has been at this game longer than I, he wasn’t too surprised either. And he asked that I make this available for download. All of the artwork is included too so you can make copies and DIY your own CD if you so desire! Kei of Fixing A Hole will still be releasing this in Japan also. Though I’m sure it will take a while longer since he now has to pay for everything himself. Sorry I didn’t get to work with you, Kei. Special mention to Tim of TDB Pirate Radio too. That man busted his ass trying to help us out! You’re a real trooper, mate! Now you’re all saying “just shut the fuck up and give us the music already!”. Then go to the bandcamp page and hit download. You have the option of paying as little as $0.00 for the entire album and at least 80% of any donations are going to Ed and Keith. Happy Holidays and enjoy!
Ok… I’ve been promoting the crap out of this for at least 3 solid weeks now. And we’re a mere 1/5 of the way towards our goal. I really can’t emphasize enough that Kickstarter is all or nothing so if we don’t reach our $300 mark by November 13th this album WILL NOT happen. I know there’s enough like-minded people out there to make it happen too. I’ve done all I can to spread the word. I sent out my first (very long overdue) mailing list in over a year yesterday. Posted on forums. Beat facebook to death with it. Went on the radio. Tweeted. Blogged. Asked for reviews. The only thing I haven’t done is go door to door about it! Word of mouth is key here. If you haven’t listened to the album yet, do it. Here Come The Intrepids is kind of like acoustic Annalise mixed with Frankie Stubbs and Nick Drake. That alone should pique your interest. If you dig it, pledge something. Even if it’s just $1 that’s a huge help! There’s thousands of Annalise fans across the world. That adds up quick! Then tell your friends. And they’ll tell their friends. Viral marketing is a powerful thing! Not only will everyone get a sense of accomplishment if this is successful but you get rewards for it too. Donate little as $1 and you get a free download of the album. Every level above that gets you records from the UAR catalog! Equal to or greater than the amount you pledge. It’s really a win, win situation. You’re supporting independent music and helping to release an album that otherwise wouldn’t happen. Make me proud!

Tim from TDB Pirate Radio is truly the dude. I asked him if Here Come The Intrepids could be on the Friday show to promote their upcoming album and the kickstarter project. But everything went SNAFU (skype taking a shit, internet connections going down, emails not received, etc, etc). So to make up for it he asked Ed and Keith to co-host his Zombie Bait! radio show on Saturday! But the internet and his franken-computer fucked him over again… He couldn’t make it where anyone else could talk but him! All the while he mentioned the kickstarter at least 40 times and played a ton of Annalise and Here Come The Intrepids tracks. I gave Tim a full UAR presskit yesterday after seeing how frustrating things get with no reward. And he’s going to pre-record an interview with Ed and Keith so they can get on the air for real next time! But both of those shows were still funny as hell and you should listen to them. Make it a habit actually… I laugh my ass off every time I listen to his show! And don’t forget about the kickstarter project. This album won’t happen without you!!!

After six weeks, no less than 12 idiots including one supervisor, being repeatedly told “I can’t find your payments account”, 8 faxes from 4 machines, two threatening letters, one very nice representative at my bank, endless frustration, being lied to and misinformed repeatedly, and being ready to kill someone, the biggest bunch of incompetent morons I have ever dealt with ever at Amazon have finally confirmed my bank account so I can launch the kickstarter for Here Come The Intrepids. Just under 12 hours before they go on TDB Pirate Radio to promote their upcoming album and this kickstarter project. So, unbelievably, here it is! We need to raise at least $300 so this album can be released. There’s rewards all the way up to a complete UAR discography too so it’s not like you’re getting nothing for your money! And please help spread the word. Tell your friends. Support independent music!

On August 8th, 2006 Unsane Asylum was officially born. And Turning Japannalise was her first release! If you dig it you should also check out Here Come The Intrepids which is Ed’s new side project. It’s a lot like Annalise just all acoustic.

Probably time I stop being such a lazy bastard and do a proper blog update, huh? So, yeah, remember a long long time ago on a blog far far gone that I mentioned Ed from Annalise was working on a new solo project? Well that’s finally coming to fruition! It’s under the name Here Come The Intrepids, since a) it’s more than just Ed in the band, and b) I guess he isn’t pretentious enough to just call it “Ed”. Hah! I received the final masters today and you can stream the first song on my bandcamp if you so desire! Ed also made a twitter and you can follow him @hctintrepids. This will be a split release with our friends Fixing A Hole in Japan too. And as far as my end goes, being broke and in debt, I’ll be making a kickstarter page for this soon in order to fund it. Which means people that donate towards the cause will be given incrementally better rewards based upon the amount they donate. Excited yet? Well get stoked! This is the first new material by some of Exeter’s finest in almost six years…
